The lotus flower is one of the most ancient and deepest symbols of our planet.
The lotus flower grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. At night the flower closes and sinks underwater, at dawn it rises and opens again. Untouched by the impurity, lotus symbolizes the purity of heart and mind. The lotus flower represents long life, health, honor and good luck.
 Lotus Dance Retreat was awesome. Women came together from different points of the earth to dance together and share personal experiences, and long lasting relationships. We became a very special group: The first participants of the Lotus Dance Retreat in Bali.
Thanks to everyone for your sense of adventure and faith in a project being created. It takes a special person to jump into the unknown as we all did. We not only survived, but had life changing experiences and unforgettable memories.
I found the description of the Lotus above very appropriate to describe our endeavor. Our theme was “Dance Like a Goddess in the Island of the Gods”. We were all goddesses at some time or another, even dripping with sweat or collapsing with exhaustion as we went to a well needed massage J.
From the muddy waters of the unknown, we learned a great deal to make the future retreats even better and more effective. And like the lotus, we will rise again next year with even more remarkable beauty.

On the practical side, Siri, Joyce, Rebecca and I ( Samra ) had a meeting to discuss improvements for next time, based on our experiences from this time. This retreat was the result of a dream, idealism, and a bit of “creative insanity” in planning such an event on the other side of the planet in just a few months. But had we not tried it, it would not have happened. We all must start somewhere in order to adjust and make improvements. Given all the circumstances, it was a success. Rebecca, Alli and I worked around the clock for months to accomplish what we did and we feel that our efforts were greatly rewarded by your presence and support. Next time, we plan to have less classes, more instructors and the responsabilities equally shared. So, all of us can work and play and get to share each other's company more. Yani will be our dynamic local representative and accomodation advisor in the beach stay and classes, and Rebecca will host us for a couple of days of full activities in her completed mountain resort, thus giving us the opportunities to explore two sides of Bali.
From every molecule in my body I say thanks to each of you, and hope that you can join us again in the future. Lotus Dance Retreat will continue to be something not to be missed.
